The Georgia EMS Association encourages you to come to the beautiful city of Savannah, GA, home of the 34th Annual GEMSA Providers & Educators Conference.

We believe you are going to find the educational experience at this conference to be both enjoyable and rewarding.  In addition, we hope you take advantage of some of the great history this city has to offer; stroll down River Street, or enjoy Tybee Island; taking advantage of the many sites and recreational opportunities that exist on the Georgia coast.

AFY2020 EMS Trauma Equipment Ambulance Grant

The Georgia Trauma Care Network Commission (GTCNC) would like to say THANK YOU for

everyone that applied for the first FY 2020 EMS Trauma Related Equipment Grant cycles. The

GTCNC dispersed a total of $944,000 grant awards during FY 2020.

At the request of the EMS Subcommittee, the GTCNC approved another grant award

opportunity using AFY 2020 funding for your EMS agency “GRANTEE” to be used for purchase(s)

of Trauma Related Equipment to equip ambulances. The total amount of funds to be awarded

is $1,123,977 statewide. Our current ambulance count yielded 1,302 ambulances or

reimbursement up of $863.27 per ambulance. Funds will be distributed on a reimbursement

basis only. Attachment D contains the award amount per grantee.

The deadline to submit completed grant packets including your agency applications, affidavit

and copy of invoice or purchase order for reimbursement is on or before April 30, 2020.

Applications received after this date will be returned to the sender.

FY 2020 EMS Equipment Grant Round 2: Georgia Trauma Commission

This grant can be used by the GRANTEE to purchase equipment that is on the required list for

ambulance licensure by the Georgia State Office of EMS and Trauma within the Joint Policy

Statement or the Commission approved list both in Attachment C. The purpose of the FY 2020

EMS Equipment Grant is to reimburse EMS Agencies for equipment purchased from the

approved equipment lists found in Attachment C. This has been updated with the approved

most recent equipment grant cycle.

Georgia Trauma Skills Procedure Labs- Multiple Locations and Dates

The Georgia Trauma Commission and the Georgia EMS Association is offering a Georgia Trauma Skills Procedure Lab in Georgia with two available sessions each day. The sessions have been approved by Georgia’s Office of EMS & Trauma for 4 hours of CEU’s.

Each Lab session will be the same lab for both AM and PM. There will be 5 to 7 rotating lab skill stations per session offering the following education: Direct/Video Laryngoscopy; EZ-IO; NIO; Chest Needle Decompression & Anatomy; Difficult Airway Simulation; and Bleeding Control & Wound Packing Simulation

 Tactical Emergency Casualty Care Program Opportunity

The Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) program is based on the principles of Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) and meets the guidelines  established by the Committee on Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (Co-TECC). The course teaches civilian tactical EMS; any EMS practitioner called upon to respond to a mass casualty or active shooter event.

Upon successful completion of the course students will receive NAEMT TECC Course Completion Certificates and wallet cards.

Course Locations and Date:

Crisp County    Cordele, GA  March 13-14, 2020

Floyd County – March 21 & 22, 2020

Muscogee Co – Columbus Co. GA     March 28 & 29, 2020

Registration will be limited to 20 students per course  so don’t delay.
The first qualified 20 students will be accepted.

2020 GEMSA Leadership Program

2020 GEMSA Leadership Program
Applications due January 31, 2020

The Georgia EMS Association (GEMSA) is currently accepting applications for Year 9 of the Georgia EMS Leadership Program for 2020. All application materials must be MAILED to Kim Littleton, Leadership Program Director & GEMSA Executive Director, postmarked no later than January 31, 2020.

Please note: All applications must be submitted by mail as no email or fax copies will be accepted.

The GEMSA Board of Directors is pleased to announce that we have secured funding from the Georgia Trauma Care Network Commission to conduct the ninth EMS Leadership Education and Training Course in 2020.  The class will be conducted during four (4) up to one week sessions at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro and other locations across the State.  This funding will allow us to pay for all expenses, except for travel to and from the course, for participants selected for the program.  We will accept 25 students into the course.
