Trauma Symposium – Georgia State Office of EMS Region 7

Please remind your staff and colleagues about the upcoming 2021 Trauma Symposium and Trauma Skills Lab for Region 7. The links are listed below for both events. There is a small fee this year to guarantee availability. Both lists are filling up already. There are about 60 spots available for both days. Please make sure that your employees get the opportunity to take advantage of these amazing training sessions. All healthcare levels are welcome from: healthcare students, EMT’s, x- ray techs, respiratory therapist, Paramedics, Nurses, and Physicians. This is a great opportunity to obtain CEU’s. Also remind the ones that have registered that if they did not pay at time of registration then they were automatically kicked off the list. They will need to register again and pay the fee that is required. It is only a small amount of people that didn’t pay.

  • We will be hosting two in-person workshops can choose from on Oct. 10 – Trauma Symposium/Cadaver Lab and an Instructor Workshop: Show-Me Creative Ideas in the Classroom. These will have limited class sizes to allow for COVID-19 precautions and PPE will be used. To comply with hotel guidelines, all guests of any Marriott hotel must wear face coverings in all public indoor spaces including hotel restaurants, bars, and public areas as well meeting and event areas including during the workshops. A registration fee is required and a partial reimbursement for the registration fee and/or hotel room may be applicable.

  • October 11-13, we will offer all conference sessions live and pre-recorded in a virtual format during the conference days along with a virtual Exhibit Hall. Tracks include: educators, providers and leadership.
  • The virtual event will be a FREE training event for Georgia EMS providers thanks to our Training Funding Partner: the Georgia Trauma Commission. However, as grant funded spots are limited, there is a $25 reservation fee to reserve your spot. Once you attend the virtual conference, that fee will be applied toward a new GEMSA membership or renewal as applicable. Also, you must be signed up and paid by October 9 in order to participate.
  • A virtual exhibit hall will be available as part of the virtual event. 2020 GEMSA Providers & Educators Conference Update

The Georgia EMS Association (GEMSA) has been working very hard on the 2020 GEMSA Providers & Educators Conference to be held October 10-13, 2020.

However, the COVID-19 pandemic has created tremendous challenges for all of humanity, and it has been accompanied with a level of uncertainty that we have not seen before. There remains much ambiguity in the immediate path to returning to normal activities with large group gatherings.

The GEMSA Board of Directors has carefully weighed the opinions of the members along with their responsibilities to ensure the safety of Georgia EMS providers and agencies.

At this time, the 2020 GEMSA Providers & Educators Conference will be held as a VIRTUAL event.  The gathering of hundreds of EMS providers from multiple EMS agencies in close quarters has the potential to impact EMS operations across the state and is an unacceptable risk in the opinion of the Board.

A few things we know right now:

  1. This will be a free training event for Georgia EMS providers due to funding from the Georgia Trauma Commission.

  2. Regular conference sessions, October 11-13, will be provided live and pre-recorded in a virtual format during the conference days. Tracks include: educators, providers and leadership.

  3. Sessions will also be available for credit for a few weeks after the conference, so you have more time to view the recorded sessions and get credit on your own time.

  4. A virtual exhibit hall will be available, so you can still see the latest in products and services for EMS on October 11-12.

  5. We will host an in-person Trauma Symposium/Cadaver Lab and an Instructor Workshop on October 10 with full precautions and PPE. Limited spots will be available.  A fee may be required.

  6. If you have made a hotel reservation, you are able to modify or cancel that reservation without penalty by calling the hotel at 912-233-7722.

Registration for this event will be coming soon!

We are working on final details, so we can get registration open for you.  Stay tuned.  We appreciate your patience as we navigate this new event solution.  We hope to be back with you in-person next year!

Note for those who were registered for the March 2020 GEMSA Leadership Conference that was canceled – if you opted to save your registration fee for the October conference, we can continue to hold that registration and apply it to the March 2021 Leadership Conference if you would like.  If other arrangements need to be made, contact Mary Napier.
